Coconut oil is still in, right?
One of my favorite samples I received once upon a time in my Birchbox was the Whish Sugar Scrub in Key Lime. It smelled heavenly and left my skin baby-bottom soft from the coconut oil. I used up my sample and never replenished it because at 38 bucks a pop I just couldn’t justify it. I recently decided to make my own version of it. Since I used ingredients I already have lying around my house it cost me ZERO dollars. You just can’t beat that.
I used kosher salt in my version because I like how it has larger granules. I feel like it exfoliates my skin a little better than the sugar granules in the Whish version. You can use kosher salt, like me, sea salt, or regular sugar in your version. My version also left my skin with that same baby-bottom softness, just like the Whish version, and, thanks to the grapefruit essential oil I used, smelled so good I could have eaten it.
1. Using the back of a spoon or fork, mash the coconut oil and salt together until smooth. Add essential oil and continue mixing until fully incorporated.
2. Store in air tight container (I used a small mason jar, am going to be ordering a few of these so I can keep it in the shower without the lids rusting).
I hope you guys like this quick DIY as much as I do!
